What is Vogue?
What's the difference in the styles of Vogue?
NOTE ** My very basic summary of what I've been taught/told and researched from New York. **
Vogue and Waacking are not the same dance. Vogue is like still PICTURES. Waacking is like a movie. Vogue has a different attitude.
You have Old Way, New Way and Vogue Femme (Run Way).
A lot of people think vogue femme is Vogue period...this is a part of run way that they use when battling (youtube example vids coming) but it is only one style of it. This is commonly seen in modern or commercial dance where they incorporate certain feminine parts such as one hand on the hip or when male dancers play on the femininity. This is vogue femme.
A person who has had A LOT OF INFLUENCE in Vogue is WILLI NINJA (who trained everyone in the House of Ninja:
A great example of old way is Cesar from the House of Ninja (ps a house is a part of a crew/group where you are part of that family and train/battle with) there are many houses in Vogue.
Description from vid:
CESAR BEGAN VOGUING IN 1983 IN THE WEST VILLAGE OF NY. HE WAS RECRUITED IN 1986 TO BE ONE OF THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF NINJA. CESAR BECAME AN ACTIVE FIGURE IN THE UNDERGROUND BALLROOM SCENE IN HARLEM IN THE LATE 1980'S IN WHICH HE WON MANY TROPHIES IN THE VOGUE, POP, DIP AND SPIN CATEGORY. ALSO KNOWN AS VOGUE, THE OLD WAY.WINNING IN MANY OTHER FASHION CATEGORIES AS WELL.
* NEW WAY *
In New York, for me, new way people to watch and learn from are Benny and Javier Ninja. Archie Burnett and Aus Omni also teach some old and new way vogue. In New Way the movements are cat walk based and are more fluid compared to old way. (my opinion). Check out a video of Benny Ninja and below him a video of Javier Ninja (both amazing teachers as well).

I went to visit a vogue femme competition and WOW!!!!!!!! LMAO. I'm laughing because it is so dope and such an amazing experience, those bitches better werk!!! (see how i'm talking like them so influenced!)
They generally have their own slang and terminology depending on their house but here are some I was taught and usually what they get marked on (10s across the board)....
Dips, Duck walk, cat walk, (Arm performance), hand performance, beats, clicking, hair pin, Kansai, Angel, Box Dip, (pop dip and spin), Scorpion, Soft & Cunt, Verbal tongue.
